Rwanda SME portal is an online one-stop access point for information and services related to capacity building, market access, value addition, networking, business information, access to finance, trade facilitation, business matchmaking etc. required by Small and Medium Business.

Rwanda’s SME sector accounts for 98% of businesses, 41% of private sector employment; hence posing a huge potential for driving Rwanda’s vision of becoming a middle-income economy by 2020.

In order to tap into this potential GoR has embarked on designing policies that create an enabling environment for growth of the SME sector in Rwanda basing on the following key strategic objectives:

Promote a culture of entrepreneurship among Rwandans

Facilitate SME access to development services including:

 Business development services
 Access to local, regional and international markets and market information

Promote innovation and technological capacity of SMEs for competitiveness

Put in place mechanisms for SMEs to access appropriate business financing

Simplify the fiscal and regulatory framework for SME growth
